Introduction: Disable the Sleep Feature in the Presonus Seism T8 Subwoofer

Information technology took just about one 24-hour interval for me to realize that spell the Temblor T8 is a great sounding subwoofer, I hate its auto-sleep lineament. It takes too long to wake up, it shuts down when you'Re listening at unhearable levels, and information technology pops like crazy all time it comes back. Later on checking other Amazon reviews, it was clear that I wasn't the only one with that ailment. So I decided to fix the issue and written document IT for others WHO might be interested.

With this contrive, your speakers will always get on. This doesn't fix the pop, simply it does mean that it will only chance when you prefer to turn the subwoofer on and off.

Step 1: Disclaimer: Don't Cost Dumb

This project involves working along electronics that operate at mains voltage. Eastern Samoa so much, it is DANGEROUS. Make out not attempt this project if you aren't comfortable with that. This is also an unlicenced alteration: it will definitely void your warrantee, and if you jazz very wrong you could destroy your equipment. I'm not responsible anyone who blows up their subwoofer, burns down their house, goes into cardiac arrest, or is otherwise mutilated during the course of this adjustment. That beingness said, it's really jolly easy.

Step 2: Tools You Wish Postulate

Soldering iron (plus very basic soldering skills)

Solder

1 piece of wire (about ½" long)

Phillips screwdriver

Common sense

Step 3: Get weaving

Turn off the subwoofer, unplug the power, inputs and outputs, and note of all of your settings (they are easy to gibbousness while you'atomic number 75 working on the board.) Next, remove the 10 screws that hold the subwoofer board onto the ze box (circled on the project) and carefully pull impossible the panel. There's really nothing to grab onto to do this, so I ended up tipping the subwoofer until the impanel started to slide out.

Be aware that there are two pairs of wires that are attached from the panel to both the speaker and the LED logo on the front of the corner. There should make up enough length in those wires that you don't have to disconnect them at either end, but be careful not to stress them or they could break at the solder joints. I found that the easiest way to influence on the board was to flip the panel upside down and send it back into the opening that it came from.

Footfall 4: Solder

You can now see all of the electronics that king the subwoofer. The part that we need to nark is connected the underside of the top side blue plug-in. I removed the black steel cover scale by unscrewing the three screws that hold information technology to the heat sink (circled). You may find you don't indigence to remove it, but I conceive it makes the process a unimportant easier. Once removed, get a load at the exposed circuit board. If you are smart, you will drain the large capacitors seen happening the left side. Google "discharging capacitors" for a better explanation of how to do that than I can pass you.

Done? Alright. The part we need to bypass in orderliness to deactivate the sleep mood is a unclean rectangular relay happening the right-wing position of the top circuit panel (see picture 2.) IT is marked HF32FA. Basically, this relay acts A an machine-controlled switch. When it senses enough volume, it connects your speakers to your inputs and allows sound through. When it doesn't realize that volume, it disconnects the speakers and everything goes to sopor. We're releas to brush aside the complicated sensing circuitry and simply forcefulness the speakers to stay connected.

To do this, we will wire two pins on the relay (the switching pins) together permanently. These pins are located directly underneath the relay. It's a little difficult to locate the exact pins, thusly be sure to take care finding the exact ones by looking to make a point they are directly below the relay, and referencing the location of the text nearby. If you connect the wrong pins, I cannot vouch for what leave pass off. But it will be bad.

Information technology's not critical what you use to connect these pins, but it should cost a decent rabbit-sized electrify. If information technology's too thin, it will be flimsy and may not pass enough current. If it's too large, IT will be enured to work with. I cut the branch off of a gravid resistor and put-upon that. You could too use stranded wire, but it would be a little harder to install. Use frequent sense Here.

Solder that wire pinafore between the cardinal points. I did this by bonding upside down. You may find it easier to unscrew the circuit plug-in so that you behind study right-side up. I didn't do that, so I South Korean won't tell you how to do it. If you do it my way and solder upside down, be steady to place something connected top of the lower circuit table so that if solder drips, information technology won't connect things that shouldn't be adjoining. I put Down a sheet of paper, only something that won't burst into flames might be straight-grained better. Once soldered, snip off any extra duration on the jumper. You want to be 100% sure that your wire is not touching anything some other than those two points. There are high voltages in this area of the add-in during normal operation, and if you short circuit 120 volts through your speakers, they will hit the ceiling and you will stupefy mad at Pine Tree State. And I will point to this section where I said "be 100% sure that your conducting wire is not touch anything other than those 2 points."

Step 5: You're Done

Now that the two points are soldered in collaboration, you're done! Rhenium-assemble everything, atomic number 75-link up, check your settings, and test to make a point that information technology works.

If you ever decide you want the sleep feature back, just open it up and remove that jumper. If you really wanted to get fancy, you could economic consumption a toggle switch instead of a pinny telegraph so that you could turn the log Z's feature on Beaver State murder.

Federal Reserve note: I gain this isn't a perfect solution. It would be better to adjust the volume threshold so that the sleep have doesn't actuate with quiet material, and to add more than filtering to move out that pop. If anyone takes the time to do that, let me know! Until and so, this is a quick, hands-down fix—particularly for hoi polloi who power down their systems when they're not busy anyways.
